An online Herbal Mixology Training Experience with Herbalists Lupo Passero & Ilana Sobo

Craft Mocktails, Cocktails, and Botanical Infused Spirits have recently made a huge comeback and are a fantastic, fun, and popular trend these days. Bartenders, Baristas, and Herbalists alike are creating incredible herbal-infused drinks, cocktails, and mocktails with fabulous botanical ingredients from all over the world, offering patrons a historically rich and botanically infused experience.

Naturally, botanicals and spirits have gone hand and hand since the very beginning and recently there has been an obvious and epic uprise in the use of botanicals, herbs, and spices in the modern-day and ever-popular beverage scene. Many modern-day herbalists and bartenders (or "mixologists" as some prefer to be called) are both highly skilled at making incredible cocktails and alcohol-free mocktails. The modern-day mixologists and herbal beverage enthusiasts are incredibly creative in their own right, though some may lack experience or training in the Art, Science, and Ritual of herbalism and oftentimes, botanical safety as well as the roots and origins of this reawakened epic modern-day trend.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In this class, you’ll explore the history of botanical spirits and the unique qualities of the herbs that define them. You’ll learn how to craft cocktails and mocktails using over 10 key herbs, along with expert recipes, tips, and techniques to enhance your mixology. Beyond drinks, we’ll also discuss the nutritive benefits of these herbs and how to incorporate them into your creations.

Kamryn Hancock, 2025 Student

“As a newbie in the world of mixology, this class taught me essential information about the historical significance of herbal drinks, in addition to profound knowledge of many unique herbs. I found myself getting inspired in every module, as Lupo and Ilana’s infectious creative energy was super refreshing!”

This incredible botanical training, six years in the making is about to make its long-awaited debut. As a lover of both herbal medicine and botanical beverages, Herbalist Lupo Passero has been paying close attention in recent years to this botanical boom in the bar industry and has certainly been inspired and excited to see some of her favorite medicinal plants become a huge part of the cocktail/mocktail revolution. However, she was quick to notice that several of the specialty drinks she has been served, as a patron and as a judge at various local cocktail competitions, contained ingredients that, as a trained herbalist, she would not necessarily deem safe for consumption by all. While sharing a plant-based beverage (and her concerns) about this topic with fellow Herbalist, beloved friend, and Aromatherapist Ilana Sobo, the two felt inspired to create an online training program that would offer all lovers of plant-based spirits a course in the safe and efficacious use of commonly used herbs and botanicals.

Hence, The Botanical Bartender Training was born!

This is an easy-to-follow, in-depth training that covers all the botanical bases, from history to modern-day use, and is meant to ensure that botanicals are being blended safely and celebrated properly. Filled with numerous recipes, history, fantastic plant wisdom, and potent preparations, this class is sure to overflow your spirit with the wisdom of the plants!

To support our rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Helene, all of our online courses are 50% off until April 15th, with proceeds going directly toward funding our new classroom space.
